Position Summary
The HVAC Mechanic is responsible for the daily operation maintenance and repair of HVAC refrigeration and mechanical equipment throughout the facility. This includes overseeing HVAC systems package units cooling towers chillers pumps and related HVAC systems. The role ensures proper technical performance of all environmental control systems coordinates with internal departments and external contractors and supports facility operations by monitoring events equipment start-up/shut-down and system performance.
This role pays an hourly rate of $36.34-$40.38 (per CBA).
Benefits as per the union agreement.
This position will remain open until April 24 2026.

Reimagined following a $640-million-dollar renovation the MBCC provides a world-class state-of-the-art event venue for exceptional conferences conventions tradeshows and meetings.
A LEED Silver certified green building the venue includes a magnificent Grand Ballroom 500000 square feet of flexible exhibition halls 4 junior ballrooms outdoor terraces & parks and 84 breakout rooms. The MBCCs immediate proximity to lively South Beach Lincoln Road Ocean Drive and many other Miami Beach cultural arts attractions make it an ideal venue for your next event.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate maintain and troubleshoot computerized HVAC
- Perform repairs on HVAC units refrigeration systems pumps and atmospheric control
- Monitors chemical treatment for cooling towers and
- Inspect mechanical systems and support external maintenance
- Assist with inventory of tools and
- Work flexible hours including nights weekends and
- Perform physically demanding tasks including lifting up to 50 lbs climbing kneeling and exposure to various environmental conditions.
- Provided oversight of event-related HVAC requests ensuring timely coordination accurate scheduling and optimal environmental conditions for all function
- May be assigned additional duties as necessary to support operational needs
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education/Experience:
- 35 years of HVAC and experience in a public assembly
- Strong knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration
Skills:
- Ability to read blueprints/diagrams and follow detailed
- Strong communication and interpersonal
- Ability to work independently with minimal
- Computer literacy including Microsoft
Licenses/Certifications:
- Journeyman HVAC
- EPA certification (required).
Working Conditions Summary
- Indoor and outdoor work with exposure to noise fumes dust and varying atmospheric
- Frequent physical activity including climbing balancing kneeling crawling and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Requires mobility to access all facility
