Description of Work

This position is designated as Exempt Policy-Making under G.S. 126-5(c)(3) and is considered an at-will appointment.

The Office of the State Auditor (OSA) is seeking a Quality Assurance Technical Writer to play a key role in supporting OSAs oversight audit and risk management functions. This position will be responsible for producing clear accurate and well-structured audit reports developing risk and internal control documentation and assisting with organization-wide risk assessment activities.

As part of our team you will get to:
Draft edit and finalize audit reports across OSAs four audit divisions
Attend weekly meetings with report writers to provide editorial guidance over drafts ensure clarity and uphold agency writing standards
Assist OSAs Risk Management Division in developing documents and enhancing internal control frameworks
Contribute to the preparation of OSAs annual audit report supporting research drafting and documentation efforts
Support the creation and tracking of key performance indicators and risk-related metrics
Attend OSAs Risk Committee meetings

Salary Range: $70000 - $95000

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate internal and external risks analyze data and translate complex findings into actionable written conclusions

  • Familiarity with Government Accountability Office (GAO) standards riskbased audit planning and associated documentation requirements

  • Experience developing tracking and interpreting performance and risk metrics (e.g. KPIs control effectiveness measures)
