Join a team of outstanding engineers in our Shakopee MN facility working on new product development for fiber optic assemblies used in data centers around the world!This role requires on-site work five days a week.Local candidates will be given preference; relocation assistance is not available.
How Youll Help Us Connect the World:
As a member of our engineering team you will work with multi-functional teams across the globe to design and release new products and improve existing products used in enterprise data center AI and carrier telecommunication markets. The primary focus will be to support the development of new products optical fiber cable assemblies fiber optic connectors and components and fiber optic apparatus. This includes but is not limited to the following:
- Participate in new product development activities and support the release of new and modified products.
- Document product requirements based on industry standards and applications.
- Design new components and assemblies and support optical and mechanical testing of our fiber optic products.
- Perform component and assembly evaluation data analysis and failure analysis. Write test reports detailing the results of testing.
- Review and approve product design and engineering change documentation for conformance to company customer agency and industry specifications and standards.
- Coordinate with manufacturing teams on new process development during the introduction of new products into manufacturing.
- Generate a Record of Inventions for innovations and pursue intellectual property protection.
- Develop awareness of corporate business unit and quality management system documentation.
- Develop knowledge of fiber optic products relevant industry standards for these products and technical principles.
- Gather knowledge of the range of lab test equipment and engineering tools such as LEAN or 6-sigma DMAIC or other improvement processes DoE FMEA and MSA.
- This position may travel to international locations and has growth potential per engineering technical ladder with six additional engineering titles each with increasing responsibilities.
- Collaboration with current staff which includes other engineers technicians and product managers in a team-oriented environment.
Required Qualifications for Consideration:
- Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering physics or a similar field
- Experience with 3D modeling tools like CREO or SolidWorks
- Understanding of design for manufacturing
- Live within commuting distance of our Shakopee MN facility
You Will Excite Us If You Have:
- Previous internship experience
- Experience with design/test of fiber optic connectors cable assemblies or fiber apparatus used in Enterprise and Carrier markets per international and domestic standards (TIA-568 GR-326 GR-63 IEC 61753 etc).
- Have IEEE 802.3 or TIA-568 optical system engineering experience
- Have experience designing injection-molded or screw-machined parts
- Experience with Minitab Ansys Power BI and/or geometric tolerancing
- Solid interpersonal abilities including excellent writing skills.
- Skilled at planning and the ability to pay attention to details.
- Ability to optimally work within a team-based environment.
