Job Description:
The Propellant Manufacturing Engineer provides engineering support for the mixing and casting of rocket motor propellants. This role involves implementing process improvements and monitoring operations and performance parameters to ensure high quality and on-time delivery. The work focuses on making significant improvements or enhancements to systems processes and products.
Essential Functions:
- Professional with comprehensive knowledge of job area and in-depth knowledge of project management.
- Manages large complex project initiatives of substantial importance with minimal oversight or direction.
- Communicates within and outside of the organization to explain and influence changes to processes practices and approaches.
- Makes significant improvements to systems and processes.
- Provides input into new products/processes and implements operational plans that have measurable impact on business or functional results. Works to achieve operational targets with direct impact on the departmental results.
- Investigates and determines root causes of problems develops and implements corrective and preventive actions.
- Provide guidance coaching and training to other employees across the company within area of expertise.
- Minimal travel required.
- Ability to obtain a US Secret Security Clearance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant engineer experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related engineer lieu of a degree minimum of 13 years of prior related engineer experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Computer skills sufficient to generate reports and analyze data using MS Excel MS PowerPoint and Minitab.
- Lean Six Sigma certification.
- Statistical Analysis experience.
- Understands rocket propulsion component(s) and theory of operation.
- Experience working with Energetics and DOD contracts.
