RESPONSBILITIES:
Essential:
- Providecomprehensivemental health services forallHutchinson Community College (HutchCC)studentsincludingstudentslocatedat the Newton and McPhersonOutreach locations. Dutiesinclude personal counseling crisis intervention and support for emotional well-being. Conduct diagnostic and ongoing assessments to informappropriate treatmentplans. Utilize multiple delivery systems for counseling including face-to-face telephone and online communication with students. Support students in developing life skills to promote personal wellness academic success and retention.
- Coordinate with the Counseling and Social Work Services Coordinator to plan manage and oversee daily operations of student food pantries at Outreach locations.
- Teachselectclasses as assigned by the Coordinator of Counseling and Social Work Services with cooperation from Outreach Center Coordinator. Utilize face-to-face and online delivery methods. Classes may include ED105 Success Seminar/College Orientation ED115 College Orientation and Career Exploration SO103 Stress Management and/or SO104 Assertiveness Training. Attend the New Faculty Teaching Academy.
- Provide academic career and financial aidadvisingto undeclared and at-risk students. CollaboratewithHutchCCRetention Coordinatorand Outreach teamto implement retentionprocedures andstrategiesinsupportofstudents academic social and personal success.
- Assistwith campus outreach fairs screening events and celebrations.
- Maintainresource materials related to academic advising and mental health counseling.
- Arrive on time for work attendworkregularly and successfully complete the responsibilities of the position.
- Comply withHutchCCpolicies procedures and practices.
Secondary:
- This position is supervised by the Coordinator of Counseling and Social Work Services with coordination from Outreach Center Coordinator and will perform other duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Counseling and Social Work Services.
- This position has counseling responsibilities in Hutchinson Newton and McPherson and will travel between these locations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy Psychology Social Work ProfessionalCounselingor relatedarea.
- Licensure: Kansas licensure through the Kansas Behavioral Science Regulatory Board to diagnose and treat mental is required to secure and pay for external supervision if clinical licensure has not been obtained.
- Experience: Teaching and/or mental health counseling experience preferred.
- The ability to build solid student relationships while adjusting to a multitude of situations in the college environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Work with staff administration and others in a professional manner.
- Physical activities will include visual acuity to view a computer terminal; useappropriate judgmentand apply tact and courtesy indifficult situations; understand words and respond effectively and appropriately; sedentary indoor work environment.
- Mental requirements include the ability to learn andcomprehendbasic instructions about the position.
- Physical and mental qualifications must beperformedwith or without reasonable accommodation.
- The qualifications listed are guidelines for selections purposes; alternative qualifications may be substituted if sufficient to perform the duties.
SALARY and STATUS:
- The salary for this position isdeterminedas per the Hiring Salary Schedule in the 2025-2026 Master Agreement. This full-time faculty position is 10 months annual (190 daysper year) tenure track benefit eligible and exempt.

- Promptly reporting Clery Act crimes and/or allegations of Clery Act crimes to the designated HutchCC official(s) in accordance with applicable laws policies and procedures;
- Completing any HutchCC provided CSA training regarding campus safety and crime reporting issues;
- Assisting in the issuance of timely warnings and emergency notifications in accordance with applicable laws policies and procedures;
- Serving as a resource to students employees and others regarding crime prevention reporting and victim assistance; and
- Collaborating with the Coordinator of Campus Safety the Coordinator of Title IX & Title VI and the Director of Human Resources regarding campus safety and compliance issues.
- A professional counselor as designated by HutchCC and whose official responsibilities include providing mental health counseling to members of the HutchCC community may be exempt from reporting Clery Act crimes and/or allegations of Clery Act crimes when functioning within the scope of the counselors license or certification.
