We are seeking a Recreation Programmes Coordinator based in Hiwa - Aucklands state-of-the-art Recreation Centre a globally recognised award-winning new hub for health fitness and community in the heart of the city campus.

You will be part of a team responsible for developing and delivering high-quality freestyle group fitness programmes events and wellbeing opportunities that contribute to the vibrant culture of our university.

Youll be essential in the delivery of our group fitness timetable featuring over 85 classes each week across six studios and you will actively lead and take part in addition to our core offerings you will also coordinate a variety of events and workshops to elevate the member experience.

The main responsibilities of the role include:

  • Programme Delivery & Events: Plan implement and review group fitness programmes wellbeing initiatives and elevated events. Which involves ensuring high-quality experiences and adaptation based on feedback.
  • Instructor & Operations Management: Support instructors through scheduling guidance and performance management; maintain safe well-equipped studios and implement contingency plans.
  • Marketing & Engagement: Oversee social media content and collaborate with marketing teams to promote programmes effectively; monitor attendance and engagement to maximise participation.
  • Administration & Reporting: Deliver timely financial and attendance reports maintain accurate records and ensure efficient use of systems and Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs).

This can be a part-time or full-time role (between 30 and 37.5 hours a week) and is fixed-term running for 12 months.

Some flexible work hours will be required including evenings and weekends due to the nature of the business hours schedule of activities urgent class cover and event delivery requirements. You will teach at least 1 group fitness class per week as part of this role.

The salary range for this role is $63600 to $79300 prorated for part-time staff (Band E) negotiable depending on skills and experience.

  • Fitness health & wellbeing or recreation-specific higher education qualification or experience in a similar role supporting delivery of high quality and diverse active recreation/wellbeing opportunities.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering varied group fitness recreation and wellbeing programmes
  • Proficient in administration which includes a comprehensive understanding of MS Suite.
  • Capable of handling multiple tasks and priorities efficiently with an ability to pivot and adapt as necessary with a knack for thinking proactively and taking initiative
