Position Overview

Are you looking for a rewarding career with an organization that values their team members and truly makes a difference in communities throughout the state The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) is seeking to hire an Executive 1 for their Springfield office. This person will serve as the agency Vehicle Coordinator and the Assistant Travel Coordinator. The ideal candidate for this position will have great attention to detail the ability to multi-task and experience managing a vehicle fleet and knowledge of government travel rules. Essential Functions

  • Serves as Agency Vehicle Coordinator and manages the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) motor pool fleet.
  • Serves as Assistant Travel Coordinator.
  • Provides backup support for the Agencys Chicago Management Operations team.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college preferably with coursework in business or public administration.
  • Requires one (1) year of responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization or completion of an agency approved professional management training program.

Specialized Skills

  • Requires two (2) years of experience managing a government motor pool fleet.
  • Requires two (2) years of experience working with government travel rules and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefers two (2) years of experience managing a government motor pool fleet.
  • Prefers two (2) years of experience working with government travel rules and regulations.
  • Prefers two (2) years of experience managing multiple databases including cloud-based platforms spreadsheets and third-party database programs.
  • Prefers one (1) year of experience in program management including planning execution and evaluation of program outcomes.
  • Prefers one (1) year of demonstrated experience in developing implementing and overseeing agency-wide policies and procedures ensuring alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.

Conditions of Employment

  • Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties with overnight stays as appropriate.
  • Requires appropriate valid drivers license.
  • Overtime is a condition of employment and you may be requested or required/mandated to work overtime including scheduled unscheduled or last-minute may require the ability to work evenings and weekends.
  • Requires completion of a background check and self-disclosure of criminal history.
  • This position is considered medium work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(c)). Medium work involves lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
