Job Summary

Description and Functions

Open Until Filled

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

This position provides an opportunity to work with a high-performing small investment team overseeing approximately $13billion in externally managed pension assets. The portfolio has generated top decile returns over the past 1- 5- 7- and 10-year periods. Given the small size of the team each member of the investment staff has a meaningful opportunity to shape portfolio outcomes and Investment Interns are given the ability to participate in this process across all asset classes.

This summer program is open to undergraduate and graduate-level students preferably during the summer prior to graduation. The potential may also exist for the internship to extend beyond the summer and into the academic year. WRS is looking for students with an outstanding record of academic achievement and an interest in the financial markets. Educational major or discipline is not as critical. The Investment Intern(s) will be responsible for conducting research and analysis in support of the investment strategy objectives of each of the portfolios asset classes. This position will work with the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) Senior Investment Officers (SIOs) Investment Officer and Investment Analysts to manage WRS investments and asset classes. Each intern will assist in the coverage of one or more of the following asset class categories: equity fixed income and alternative investments. If there is a permanent Investment Analyst position available at WRS upon graduation an Investment Intern will be well-positioned for an offer.
