PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Join the team behind one of the BBCs flagship live programmes The One Show. As a Vision Engineer you will play a key role in delivering outstanding picture quality and ensuring robust technical operations across both live and recorded output. You will help maintain flawless performance of the studios vision systems supporting creative teams and upholding the high standards expected of BBC Studios.

The role offers hands on experience with cutting edge broadcast technology opportunities to develop across both SDI and IP workflows and the chance to contribute directly to one of the BBCs most watched daily programmes
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
- Operate camera exposure black level and colour balance controls to match cameras and maintain consistent high quality pictures during live and recorded programmes.
- Rig and support ad hoc vision audio and related broadcast equipment for studio and location use.
- Align adjust and maintain broadcast equipment across SDI and IP domains ensuring accurate line up and reliable operation.
- Support ingest editing and playout workflows including systems such as Avid and EVS.
- Deputise for the Vision Supervisor when required contributing to leadership and decision making within the technical team.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Demonstrable experience of multi camera vision control or a strong interest and aptitude to develop this skill.
- Ability to critically assess picture quality from both technical and artistic perspectives.
- Strong working knowledge of studio broadcast facilities including SDI and IP based systems.
- Understanding of ingest editing and playout workflows (Avid EVS or similar).
- Ability to work calmly pragmatically and independently under pressure in a live production environment.
DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
- Experience working in live studio environments or on location.
- Knowledge of non linear editing systems and media management workflows.
- Familiarity with electrical and broadcast safety practices.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues systematically.
- Experience supporting or leading small technical teams.
