Purpose of the Behaviour Mentor Role
The Behaviour Mentor is tasked with supporting pupils to overcome barriers to learning caused by behavioural and emotional difficulties. This involves:
Proactive support: Implementing structured interventions mentoring sessions and social skills programs to build emotional resilience and self-regulation.
Reactive support: Assisting children during moments of emotional or behavioural challenge de-escalating situations and helping pupils return calmly to learning.
The school employs a restorative trauma-informed approach to behaviour understanding that challenging behaviour often signals unmet emotional needs. As a Behaviour Mentor you will guide children in recognising their feelings understanding the consequences of their behaviour and developing positive strategies for managing emotions.
Key Responsibilities

Monitoring pupil progress keeping detailed records and reporting outcomes to senior staff.
Encouraging restorative practices and problem-solving strategies.
Upholding safeguarding policies and maintaining professional boundaries at all times.
