The Senior Engineering Manager Defense is accountable for determining and managing the planning staffing and funding requirements of their organization. Their organization will be accountable for design engineers who will be designing new pumps and concepts to support the CIRCOR Pumps North America Defense customers metallurgist and test technicians. They will also work with the leaders of the other business functions to develop and support strategic objectives.
Experience Requirements
Minimum 10 years design engineering with 5 years of management/direct reporting experience
Lean sigma certification a plus
BSME required
Advanced degree in engineering a plus
Technical Requirements
Ability to check and approve design documentation including technical papers calculations and drawings
In-depth knowledge of positive displacement pumps focusing on screw type and gear type pumps.
Ability to clearly communicate technical requirements to direct reports as well as senior leadership staff
Champion CIRCOR Operating System (COS)/engineering policy compliance and readiness for audits (customer internal regulatory) maintaining documented processes training and evidence of adherence.
Maintaining awareness of all relevant engineering policies guideline and procedures and ensuring compliance with them
Drive continuous improvement activities by leveraging processes such as Kaizen 6S events etc.
Maintaining alignment with engineering projects and initiatives with the businesss goals and overall strategic plan
Determining and managing the planning staffing and funding requirements of the business organization
Mentor and develop engineering talent building competencies in fluid dynamics FEA vibration/sound testing and ETO product development; create growth plans and coaching rhythms.
Partnering with other company managers to leverage the value of engineering process and systems
Maintain close customer contact regarding technical concerns for CIRCOR Pumps North America products
Plan and manage staffing and funding for the engineering organization balancing nearterm program needs with longerterm capability development (tools methods talent).
Assess products and applications for strategic growth initiatives
Partner with manufacturing and supply chain to improve producibility for custom Defense products using DFM/DFA qualification feedback and supplier collaboration to enhance reliability and throughput.
Provide day-to-day technical support for operations manufacturing engineering and other business functions in order to ensure world-class products are delivered to our customers.
