Description of Work
We are looking for candidates who have a passion for helping at-risk youth.We are Working Together to Strengthen North Carolinas Youth and Families!
This position is a 12 month position within Cabarrus Youth Development Center teaching Mathematics courses to students in grades 6-12. Teacher will be responsible for planning lessons based on the NC Standards and students individual learning needs. Teacher will be responsible for ensuring success with all students while providing appropriate and engaging activities to teach concepts. Teacher will provide research-based strategies and interventions to provide an appropriate education for all students. Teacher will utilize data to inform all instructional activities based on NC Standards implement IEPs and be responsible for keeping all student records. This position serves as a member of the interdisciplinary team in order to plan for student services and treatment. Teacher will be responsible for keeping all student records exceptional childrens program and other paperwork and student progress up to date.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Salary is based on the NC Teaching Salary Schedule plus a 6% supplement.
Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position. Work hours for this position are Monday-Friday 7AM-4:30PM.

DPS uses the Merit-Based Recruitment and Selection Plan to fill positions subject to the State Human Resources Act with the most qualified individuals.
The Minimum Education and Experience (E&E) is REQUIRED to qualify for this position. Management Preferences including Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs) are not required but may be used to determine the pool of most qualified applicants. Minimum Education and Experience

The candidate must possess a valid North Carolina teacher license A or M with teaching certification in the area of Mathematics (middle school) or Mathematics (high school) or be eligible for a NC Teacher License through an alternative licensing pathway offered by NCDPI.
The successful candidate must also have a four year college degree from an accredited post-secondary education institution.
