JOB SUMMARY: Oversee and facilitate work-based learning experiences for students with disabilities such as job shadowing internships apprenticeships and paid employment. This role involves promoting and expanding partnerships with local businesses to enhance opportunities for these students. The coordinator will also provide direct services technical assistance and training to students and their families interested in Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathways and work-based learning programs.
QUALIFICATIONS/ COMPETENCIES:
- Bachelors in human services business social science or education
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations. Regular and predictable attendance.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to teach advise mentor and collaborate face-to-face and virtually with a wide range of learners and stakeholders (students parents colleagues business partners)
- Experience in youth development specifically students with disabilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate work-based learning experiences (I.e. job shadowing volunteer placements internships pre-apprenticeships apprenticeships paid employment etc.) for students with disabilities based on workforce needs in the community and student interest.
- Promote market and engage with local businesses to increase partnerships and apprenticeship opportunities for students with disabilities.
- Provide direct services technical assistance and training to students with disabilities and their families who are interested in applying to or are enrolled in CTE pathways and/or work-based learning programs.
- Participate in IEP and transition planning and review the students current academic skills and performance which will assist in determining eligibility for various career preparation programs or a need for remediation.
- Track academic progress and work performance of students participating in CTE pathways or work-based learning programs to ensure they are meeting program and industry standards identifying additional supports for student success when needed.
- Work cooperatively with individuals families service professionals and other providers to ensure that necessary agency linkage and services for successful transition are located and implemented.
- Develop curriculum for self-determination and self-advocacy training career exploration and pre-employment skills instruction.
- Develop resources for collaboration with Student Services and Career and Technical Education in providing accessible and meaningful instruction to students with disabilities.
- Provide technical assistance and training for instructional and support staff who are working to support students with disabilities in career and technical education and work-based learning.
- Participate in the Local Pathways to Partnership Initiative Team
- Attending all secondary transition and special education meetings.
PAY & HOURS: This is a 10-month exempt position with up to 37.5 hours a week. Placement Salary will be determined on the Support Services II scale with assignment to the appropriate salary lane/step based on knowledge experience skills and abilities related to this position.
