This is a temporary assignment effective immediately to June 30 2026.
Qualifications:
- Masters degree or Diploma/Certificate in Special Education;
- Valid BC teaching certificate and current membership in the Teacher Regulation Branch;
- A senior leave course and experience in Level B testing.
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (or willingness to train)
Teachers applying for this position should possess the following attributes:- evidence of excellent interpersonal conflict resolution and communication skills in working with staff students and parents;
- experience in competency based IEP development using MyED BC;
- trauma sensitive practices
- ability to schedule and direct Certified Education Assistants and Education Support Worker(s);
- demonstrated experience in providing behavioural assessment;
- general knowledge of the renewed curriculum for middle school programs;
- demonstrated ability to work collegially and as part of the school based team;
- ability to relate effectively to middle school students;
- current knowledge of and interest in applications of computer technology;
- comfortable in working with students who struggle with grade level Math and Language Arts;
- comfortable and confident working with support high incidence students;
- successful recent experience working with students with special needs;
- committed to stimulating student interest and confidence in learning;
- excellent classroom management skills;
- successful classroom teaching experience;
- demonstrated ability to use a variety of current instructional strategies and assessment methods.
The Learning Resource Teacher is responsible for:- Designing supervising and assessing student growth and effectiveness of educational programs/determining effective teaching strategies and practices;
- Assisting classroom teachers with assessment and evaluation of students/determining methods of evaluating progress and reporting achievement;
