The Cancer Research Unit Department of Molecular Medicine SDU invites applications for a part-time position as professor (10% time) in Translational Cancer Research including cancer immunology biology or genomics. The position is vacant from June 1 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter and will run for 3 years.
We seek individuals who have research expertise that complement existing focus areas of the department.
Major research areas of the Cancer Research Unit are cancer biology cancer immunobiology and immunotherapy animal models of cancer personalized medicine drug resistance mechanism and liquid biopsy.
Research profile and tasks
The main task of the candidate will be to establish lines of research that strengthen translational and integrative approaches at the molecular and mechanistic levels in the study of cancer within our department. Close collaborations will be expected within the research unit and research units within the Department of Clinical Research and Odense University Hospital (OUH).
OUH is the main hospital in the region (population of 1.2 million) responsible for diagnoses and treatments within all specialities. Establishment of strong international collaborations of benefit to the department will be expected as well.
Qualifications
The successful candidate must hold a . in biology pharmacology or biomedicine or related sciences or an equivalent M.D.
In addition successful candidates must hold a PhD degree and must have proven postdoctoral training.
The successful candidate must have demonstrated significant research experience through publications. Special consideration will be given to candidates demonstrating a strong background in any of the above-mentioned themes by publications in respected peer-review scientific journals.
Teaching commitments
The successful applicant will teach cancer biology and/or oncology to medical BSc and MSc students at courses provided by the Faculty of Health Sciences. The candidate will be expected to participate in mentoring graduate and PhD students pursuing their Masters degree or PhD.
