What you will be doing:
  • Serve as a lead fiscal specialist providing advanced accounting support for the Division of Public Health including the Directors Office Rural and Community Health Systems (RCHS) and major workforce programs such as State Loan Repayment Program (SLRP) and Healthcare Workforce Enhancement Program (HWEP).
  • Manage complex financial operationsaccounts payable/receivable reconciliations encumbrances journal entries contracts RSAs budget monitoring and quality assurance reportswhile ensuring accuracy compliance and timely processing.
  • Support annual budget development and financial reporting by researching funding sources maintaining tracking tools assisting with Federal Financial Reports (FFRs) and ensuring alignment with state and federal requirements.
  • Oversee payroll accuracy for assigned sections by reviewing timesheets correcting coding issues training staff resolving payroll errors and maintaining secure documentation.
  • This position requires strong communication and customer service skills to work collaboratively with colleagues and program staff assess their fiscal and operational needs provide accurate information and assistance resolve problems and ensure high-quality financial services that support program goals.

This position is based on the 7th floor of the Frontier building in Anchorage offering panoramic views of the Chugach Range Mt. Denali and the Cook Inlet. Qualifications

Two years of technical level accounting or bookkeeping experience of which at least one year was at the full-proficiency level.

Substitutions:
Certification as an Accounting Technician from an accredited college will substitute for one year of the required experience at the non-full-proficiency level.

Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for up to one year of the required experience at the non-full-proficiency level (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month) if it includes at least 6 semester/8 quarter hours in Accounting.

Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for the required two years of experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month) if it includes at least 9 semester/12 quarter hours at or above the 200 level in Accounting.

An associates degree in Accounting or Business Administration from an accredited college will substitute for the required two years of experience if it includes at least 6 semester/8 quarter hours at or above the 200 level in Accounting.
