Position Summary
This position is for a Director of Engineering in F5 Security and Distributed Cloud product team. This role will empower engineers recruit hire and mentor their directs while also acting as a coach/guide provide feedback to help their group of engineers grow and expand their professional development. The position will need to outline expectations support your directs in your team offer support and assistance where necessary for them to succeed in their job.
Primary Responsibilities:
Act as an advisor and coach to directs on their work and team dynamics
Performance manage directs to enable engineers to operate at their highest potential
Sourcing interviewing and hiring candidates for open positions onboarding guidance to staff conducting performance evaluations developing performance improvement plans and taking corrective action as needed.
Be knowledgeable and a point of contact for product vision goals and process.
Align engineers to the corporate and organizations strategy focus on customer use cases experience and quality
Recommend changes to policies and establishes procedures that affect immediate organization(s).
Evaluates and reviews new technologies on their applicability to product architecture and design.
Model F5 Behaviors and Agile principles
Collaborate and thrive in a fast-paced high-performance environment
Required Skills:
10 years hands-on software development experience
Solid product development experience in C / C Java Python and Go
5 years leading or managing a large geographically distributed team
Proven track record and experience leading engineering projects with teams
Experience and passion for taking a leading role in building complex software systems delivered successfully to customers.
Demonstrated ability in mentoring and developing direct reports
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Demonstrated excellence in written communications
Good experience in web service and REST API design and implementation.
Proven experience in public cloud platforms: GCP AWS etc.
Good understanding of software development lifecycles (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of Application Security Products such as WAAP Bot ZTNA etc.
Experience managing both UI backend and platform engineering teams
Proficient with SQL/ NoSQL Databases
Bachelors or Masters degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience.

The annual base pay for this position is: $249600.00 - $374400.00F5 maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge skills experience geographic locations and market conditions as well as to reflect F5s differing products industries and lines of business. The pay range referenced is as of the time of the job posting and is subject to change.
