The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) Division of Alaska Military Youth Academy(AMYA)
is recruiting for an AMYA RPM Life Skills Coordinator
This position is in the General Government (GGU) bargaining unit at a range 16.

The successful applicants must pass a federal background check in order to qualify for military base access which is required with this positions work location on base. The background check will include fingerprinting. All job offers are conditional pending successful completion of the federal background check and issuance of a Defense Biometrics Identification System (DBIDS) card allowing base access. Also you must be able to maintain the clearance throughout your employment. If using a private vehicle this will require a valid Alaska Driver License proof of vehicle insurance and a valid State of Alaska vehicle registration.
State employees are guests on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson; clearance and access are not within the States control.
Special Note:In addition in some cases employees must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC). As part of the examination process a background check investigation including a criminal records check will be conducted. Conviction of a crime will not automatically preclude appointment. The circumstances involved in the conviction will be considered.
A bachelors degree or the equivalent from an accredited college;
AND
Possession of a valid Alaska drivers license.
Substitution:
Experience in counseling interviewing case management or work specifically in the behavioral or social services fields may substitute for the required education (3 semester or 4 quarter hours equal one month of experience). This experience includes work such as AMYA Team Leader Senior Team Leader or Youth Counselor with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.

To qualify for this position the incoming team member must be willing and able to travel to remote field sites using boats small aircraft and helicopters and be prepared to work in varying weather conditions in confined areas and potentially be exposed to wildlife. Demonstrating your flexibility and experience with such environments will support your application.

Position Specific Requirements:
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DBIDs (Digital Biometric Identification Card).
Must be able to pass an FBI Fingerprint Background and Adam Walsh Check at hire and each 5 years thereafter.
Position Specific Requirements:
This position requires remaining calm while working with highly emotional at-risk youth in a residential setting. The role demands the ability to manage multiple tasks under high-stress conditions. Located at AMYA on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson Camp Carroll Training Site the incumbent must pass a security check and follow all base protocols. Responsibilities include classroom and outdoor interactions during residential cycles which may involve exposure to wild animals that may enter the campus grounds. The role requires a non-standard schedule including evenings weekends and potential rotating on-call duties.
