REPORTS TO: Summer Program Director
STATUS: Full-time Exempt
STIPEND: $525 per week plus living accommodations and meals.
DATES:June 4-July 26 or June 17 - July 26 on site position no remote work.A total of 8 positions are available.

Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre has been Pittsburghs premier professional ballet company since 1969. Today PBT is a nationally recognized ballet company of 30 professional dancers a training institution for over 1200 students of all ages and an incubator for education and accessibility programs in classrooms libraries and community centers throughout the region. The company under the leadership of artistic director Adam W. McKinney and executive director Nicholas Dragga performs a wide-ranging repertoire of classical ballets contemporary masterworks and new commissions in nearly 50 performances annually. POSITION SUMMARY:
PBT is seeking responsible engaging and enthusiastic live-in individuals to provide a supportive and safe environment for 130 ballet students ages 10-20 residing at Chatham University residence halls. Resident advisors serve as the first point of contact for residents and work to build an inclusive community through advisement program planning and consistent communication. Each RA will have one day off per week. There are two types of positions available: 7-week RAs will work at the Company Experience Session 1 (CE) the Intensive Summer Program (ISP) and the Youth Intensive Program (YSI) while the 5-week RAs will work the Intensive Summer Program (ISP) the Youth Intensive Program (YSI) and the Company Experience Session 2 (CE).

KEY REPSONSIBILITIES:
  • Build community among residents
  • Maintain resident safety and security in the residence halls at PBT Studios and during off-campus excursions
  • Plan and facilitate fun and engaging activities
  • Clearly and consistently enforce PBT School University and residence hall policies
  • Communicate with parents/guardians
  • Mediate issues such as roommate conflicts competitiveness and homesickness
  • Respond to crisis situations and alert appropriate staff members
  • Supervise hallways studios and common areas on-site at PBT to ensure student safety and timeliness.
  • Serve as a chaperone during off-campus excursions
  • Serve on an on-duty and on-call coverage rotation including both day and night shifts.
  • The R.A. on-duty is required to remain in the residence hall.

  • A passion for working with teens and young adults
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working with adolescents in a residential or camp setting strongly preferred
  • Able to work a flexible schedule
