Novamed Surgery Center of Baton Rouge / Interventional Pain Management Center is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist to join our team. General outpatient or specialty operating room experience preferred. Must have knowledge of sterile processing and the ability to work in a fast paced environment. The schedule is Monday-Friday between 6:45am-5:30pm shift may vary depending on surgery schedule. Closed Saturday Sunday and major holidays.
The Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) performs technical responsibilities relative to assisting physicians with the instrumentation of surgical intervention in an Ambulatory Surgical Center setting. The CST works under the direction and supervision of a physician or registered nurse. Additional responsibilities include monitoring PAR levels of surgical instruments and supplies. Cleaning and sterilizing surgical instruments. Maintenance of sterilizers and workroom equipment. Participation in staff meetings educational in-services and performance improvement activities.
Responsibilities:
- Performs scrub functions including the selection and handling of instruments and supplies used during procedure.
- Directly assists operating physician with surgical tasks including hemostasis suturing and wound exposure as well as patient positioning.
- Prepares operating rooms and surgical instruments and equipment for use.
- Knowledge of instruments and surgical techniques; instrument and needle counts; isolation techniques and terminal cleaning of surgical instruments and rooms.
- Demonstrates knowledge of specific technical surgical skills.
