The CGI Payroll Service Center (PSC) is progressively integrating artificial intelligence into its products internal processes and services. Our approach is iterative pragmatic and value-driven with a strong focus on concrete use cases and controlled operational deployment.
In this context the PSC is creating a new role: AI Specialist Platform & Solutions.
This position is primarily execution- and implementation-oriented working in close collaboration with IT data architecture teams and CGI AI practices.
It is not a strategic leadership role nor an enterprise architecture position.
Role Summary
Reporting to the Director Data & AI Governance (IT) the AI Engineer is responsible for the design implementation and evolution of a pragmatic and industrializable AI platform.
The role primarily involves:
developing and integrating AI-based functionalities;
contributing to the delivery of AI use cases from prototype to production;
supporting and continuously improving deployed AI solutions.
Responsibility for AI strategy global architecture and roadmap definition is not part of this role.
AI Solution Development and Implementation
Develop integrate and maintain AI functionalities (assistants document search extraction classification automation) in a context where practices and frameworks are still being built.
Implement AI use cases while contributing to the establishment of initial technical frameworks tools and best practices that are expected to evolve.
Participate in transforming proofs of concept into production-ready solutions identifying performance security and maintainability considerations.
Contribution to AI Platform Structuring
Contribute to the definition and evolution of technical standards (integration patterns conventions best practices) for a scalable AI platform.
Document and share learnings from delivered use cases to support architectural and governance decisions.
Collaborate with architecture security and infrastructure teams to align recommendations with organizational directions.
AI Services Integration
Integrate applications with cloud-based AI services (Azure OpenAI OpenAI Azure AI Services or equivalent).
Implement integrations through APIs data flows and processing pipelines.
Apply security access control and data protection requirements and raise needs for evolution when required.
Operational Support and Continuous Improvement
Provide support for deployed AI solutions: monitoring logging diagnostics and issue resolution.
Contribute to optimizing model usage (costs quotas model selection) and propose improvement recommendations.
Collaborate with DevOps and infrastructure teams on deployments and CI/CD pipelines.
Collaboration and Technical Contribution
Work closely with IT data product and architecture teams to understand needs and deliver iteratively.
Participate in technical reviews and knowledge-sharing sessions.
Propose technical improvements constructively based on experimentation and real-world feedback.

Technical Skills
Intermediate to senior profile: ideally 5 years of experience in software development/engineering including significant handson experience applying AI in a production context.
Proficiency in spoken and written French and English required for communication with bilingual teams and for technical documentation.
Excellent command of software development and integrations (APIs services processing pipelines).
Strong proficiency in Python.
Practical experience with AI solutions including a significant portion of the following:
o Language models (LLMs) and APIbased integration (e.g. Azure OpenAI/OpenAI)
o RAG (embeddings search vector databases) and design of processing chains.
Understanding of AI productionization: cost control abuse prevention security testing versioning monitoring performance management.
Pragmatic DevOps/MLOps knowledge: CI/CD containers (Docker) basic observability.
Cloud knowledge (Azure preferred) and hybrid architectures (asset).
Additional Assets
Demonstrated ability to design robust scalable and secure AI systems.
Experience with hybrid architectures (onpremise cloud).
Strong knowledge of APIs microservices and containerized environments.
Kubernetes and orchestration experience.
Knowledge of search services and vector databases (e.g. pgvector Azure AI Search Pinecone Weaviate).
Applied cybersecurity concepts (IAM secrets management segmentation compliance).
Experience with onpremise infrastructures including GPUs (depending on context).
CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level geographic market experience and training and licenses and certifications.
