We are working with a historic independent school in York recruiting for a Director of Music. This is a leadership position for an expert musician capable of managing a busy department and maintaining the schools long-standing musical traditions.
The Role You will lead the Music department overseeing the academic curriculum and a wide-reaching extracurricular program. The role requires a balance of classroom teaching and the management of peripatetic staff and school ensembles. Key responsibilities include:
Leading the Music curriculum at KS3 KS4 and A-Level
Conducting the schools main orchestra and chapel choir
Coordinating a full calendar of concerts recitals and cathedral services
Managing the departmental budget and instrument inventory
Mentoring students through university music scholarship applications

What the School Is Looking For
QTS and exceptional musical proficiency (Grade 8 in at least one instrument)
Previous leadership experience or a strong track record as a Head of Subject
