Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
TeHerenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Systems Manager to join the Infrastructure team within Te Tai Matihiko - Digital Solutions on a 6-month fixed-term full-time contract.
Key responsibilities:
- Oversee the management and maintenance of key systems and technology infrastructure ensuring operational stability and security that meets the needs of the University.
- Help the team to plan and deliver Te Tai Matihiko - Digital Solutions 2026 programme of work including the datacentre virtualisation and HPC refresh projects.
- Provide leadership HR management and staff development for the Systems team.

You should be an enthusiastic leader with a background in managing technical teams. Your skills and experience will enable you to guide the Systems team in providing a secure flexible and robust technology foundation that supports innovation integration collaboration and operational excellence.
Key requirements:
- Experience leading technical teams.
- A solid understanding of on-prem and cloud Systems Infrastructure management challenges and industry trends.
- A proven track record of successful delivery in a large enterprise IT environment.
- Strong communication and engagement with direct reports management customers vendors and key stakeholders.
