Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Adult and Child First Aid/CPR/AED certificate issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- One (1) year of experience and/or training in the medical field or working with children.
Relevant work experience or education may be substituted to satisfy minimum qualifications.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Clear and concise oral and written communication skills; organizational and management skills; mathematical skills.
- Knowledge of pertinent regulations policies and procedures for the functional area of assignment.
- Knowledge of HIPAA Public Records Sunshine Law FERPA and other laws/regulations related to student and employee privacy public information and records retention.
- Knowledge of and experience with industry-standard equipment materials practices computers and applications.
- Ability to professionally and effectively respond to customer needs and requests for service or assistance.
- Ability to work independently to provide care to students under the direction and supervision of a School Nurse.
- Ability to handle material and people by lifting pushing bending or stretching.
- Ability to administer First Aid/CPR/AED as needed for illness injury or life-threatening emergencies per certification training guidelines.

Responsibilities
- Administer First Aid/CPR/AED as needed for illness injury or life-threatening emergencies per certification training guidelines and in accordance with procedures in the Clinic Assistant Manual.
- Provide health care and medication administration to students under the direction and training of the Registered Nurse per Florida State Statue and the Lee County School Board Guidelines. Administration may include diabetic insulin seizure asthma and allergy medications as ordered by a licensed health care provider.
- Collaborate with school personnel nurses and parents to ensure that the medical needs of all students are addressed.
- Assist students with health and hygiene matters as needed to allow appropriate participation in the classroom.
- Maintain accurate electronic and written records and assist in the maintenance and filing of student health records.
- Conduct health screening procedures as directed by the school nurse such as vision height weight dental pediculosis and scoliosis screenings.
- Monitor students with minor health conditions.
- Observe and report to the school nurse guidance counselor and school administrator any unusual physical or behavioral conditions of a student.
- Adhere to all District safety guidelines and regulations.
- Assist in other areas of general or exceptional student education (ESE) settings as directed after appropriate training for medical-related issues.
- Perform Medicaid administrative claims reimbursable activities as directed in accordance with Chapter 3 of the federally approved School District Administrative Claiming (SDAC) Guide.
