Job Summary
Special Education Teacher Cross-Categorical
Location: Aldie NY
Assignment Length: 31 Weeks
Position Type:Contract
Schedule
Hours per Day: 6.83
Days per Week: MondayFriday
Shift Time: 8:50 AM 3:40 PM
Lunch: 30-minute unpaid break
Compensation
Hourly Rate: Up to $50.00/hour
Weekly Pay: Up to $1707.50
Guaranteed Hours: 35 hours per week
Position Overview
Navitas Healthcare LLC is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher (Cross-Categorical) to support middle school students with diverse learning emotional and physical needs. This role involves delivering individualized instruction within a collaborative school environment while ensuring compliance with special education regulations and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Design and deliver individualized standards-aligned instruction for students in a cross-categorical setting
Develop implement and manage Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) including goal setting and progress monitoring
Apply positive behavioral intervention strategies to support a safe and productive learning environment
Collaborate with general education teachers therapists administrators and families to ensure comprehensive student support
Conduct and interpret academic and social-emotional assessments to guide instruction
Qualifications
Education: Bachelors degree in Special Education required (Masters preferred)
Certification: Valid New York State Teaching Certification in Special Education (K12 or Middle School level)
Experience: Prior experience in a cross-categorical or self-contained classroom strongly preferred
Skills:
Strong knowledge of IDEA regulations
Proficiency with IEP documentation systems
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
