About the Team:

In this role you will work alongside a dedicated group of initial teacher education academics to implement the Master of Applied Teaching(EMAT). Collaboratively this course is designed to fully embed initial teacher education students into secondary schools.

About the Role:

As an academic in the Education Program you will be provided with support to advance your career. Your past experience in teaching and research will see you inform the work of the Master of Applied Teaching. This course is a critical component of the Education Programs at Victoria University as it not only builds on the diversification of students entering the teaching profession but also as an internship model creates an opportunity for students to begin their career while studying.

Position Key Duties

  • Develop and facilitate learning activities online distributed face-to-face or in a blended capacity as appropriate for undergraduate and postgraduate units of study which stimulate and foster student learning and which reflect a command of the discipline and contemporary pedagogic practices.
  • Provide leadership in designing innovative curricula developing learning materials teaching coordinating and moderating courses.
  • Provide Leadership as a Course Chair.
  • Manage projects with the Department of Education.
  • Determine the learning needs of students and provide appropriate teaching and learning environments and support to help students to achieve the intended learning outcomes.
  • Supervise casual staff.

Salary: AcademicLevel B $113221 - $134449 per annum pro rata 17% superannuation
Employment Type: Ongoing
Hours: 22.05 (0.6 FTE) hours per week
Location:Footscray Park Nicholson st campus the position may be relocated to any other existing or future university work locations.

About You:

  • To be suitable for this position you will be an initial teacher education academic with experience in managing complex programs with multiple partners.
  • You will have a PhD in a relevant area.
  • You will understand the need and have a commitment to diversifying the secondary school teacher workforce.
  • You will be cognisant of the strengths students from diverse backgrounds such as CALD and Indigenous and Torres Strait Islanders bring to education.
