Job Summary
The Economic Science Institute at Chapman University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow in Economic Science beginning August 2026.
Chapman University is a nationally-ranked R2 Carnegie Classified private institution offering traditional undergraduate and graduate programs in the heart of Orange County one of Southern Californias most diverse and vibrant regions. Chapmans campuses are home to nearly 10000 students representing 50 states three territories and 78 countries. The 11 schools and colleges of Chapman including the Economic Science Institute offer 65 bachelors 53 master and six doctoral programs along with nearly 60 minors and 17 accelerated and bridge programs. Classes are taught by the more than 1100 dedicated faculty members who are leaders in their fields including Nobel Prize recipients MacArthur Fellows National Medal of Science honorees former U.S. Supreme Court clerks and Emmy Grammy and Academy Award winners.
The Economic Science Institute at Chapman University is an academic center that uses the laboratory method of inquiry to study the role human institutions play in creating social rules and order and also builds and tests market and management systems. ESIs research spans the fields of accounting economics finance information systems engineering psychology neuroscience computer science and philosophy.
Responsibilities
- Design program and run experiments using human subjects.
- Coordinate with ESI faculty on developing theory and design for novel experiments.
- Collect and analyze data on subject behavior.
- Prepare slides and manuscripts for presentation at conferences and publication in peer reviewed journals.
Required
- PhD in Economics any field with an emphasis in experimental economics awarded within the last 5 years.
- Programming skills in languages such as Z-Tree Python Stata Mathematica Otree.
Desirable
- Some teaching experience in economics or finance any field.
