We currently have the opportunity for anexperienced and passionate Academic Coordinator to join the Diploma of Communication on a sessional basis (full-time) in Semester 1 commencing on 27 February. This role will coordinate:

  • Strategic Communication in Society
  • Self & Society
  • Citizenship and Communication
  • Digital Literacies

About the role

The Academic Coordinator contributes to the assurance of high quality UTS College subject curriculum and delivery and student learning outcomes in the Communication program during semester by ensuring that all curriculum materials exemplify our integrated model of learning and innovative teaching and learning practices; demonstrating leadership in teaching while guiding coaching and supervising other stream/subject teachers and ensuring students have early access to any and all additional support services they may benefit from.

This position will hold a range of responsibilities during the academic semester including:

  • Curriculum development
  • Academic administration and semester preparation
  • Teaching
  • Student support
  • Assessment and moderation
  • Leadership
  • Ongoing scholarship and development
  • Contributing to UTS College initiatives events and culture

About you
To succeed in this role you must have:

  • Tertiary qualifications:
  1. A bachelors degree in a relevant discipline (postgraduate qualifications preferred)
  2. A Graduate Certificate of Student-Centred Learning (or ability and willingness to complete if further sessional engagements are offered)
  • Strong disciplinary knowledge on all topics covered in the subject
  • Strong knowledge of integrated learning and teaching models and their application
  • A strength in teaching pathway courses using contemporary learning and teaching practice including blended learning for curricula delivery
  • Strong understanding of best practice curriculum design principles and demonstrated skills in developing and delivering technology-enabled curricula at an undergraduate level
  • Highly developed skills in digital technology and its application in a blended learning environment (particularly Canvas or other LMS)
  • Strong knowledge of Access and Inclusion needs
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating an academic subject (at least 3 years preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience in supervising and leading a team of academic teachers
