Job Overview:
This role is responsible for operating production equipment in a steel fabrication shop environment. The Machine Operator will perform repetitive tasks while ensuring accuracy quality and safety standards are met. Operators are expected to have a strong understanding of tools measurements and machine operation with the ability to perform changeovers and quality checks during production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate production machines in a steel fabrication shop environment
- Measure materials accurately and follow job specifications and drawings
- Perform machine changeovers including dies and rollers
- Use hand and power tools such as shop saws wrenches Allen wrenches bolt cutters and sockets
- Conduct quality checks while machines are running to ensure product standards are met
- Monitor machine performance and report issues or defects to supervision
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Complete end-of-shift cleanup during the last 20 minutes of the shift
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies
- Support team production goals and assist as needed
Job Requirements:
- Previous experience working in a manufacturing or steel fabrication environment
- Ability to perform repetitive work in a fast-paced shop setting
- Strong understanding of basic math and measurements
- Experience using shop tools such as saws wrenches Allen wrenches bolt cutters and sockets
- Ability to perform machine changeovers (dies and rollers)
- Experience performing quality checks during machine operation
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a steel fabrication or metal manufacturing environment
- Prior machine operator experience with progressive responsibility
- Familiarity with shop saws and production machinery
- Experience with machine setups and changeovers
