Job Summary

TPF Recruitment are currently representing a growing firm of Chartered Accountants based in Eastleigh who are looking for an experienced Senior Bookkeeper to manage a varied client portfolio and support the delivery of high-quality bookkeeping and accounting services. This role would suit a confident bookkeeper with recent/current practice experience looking to take ownership of client relationships and mentor junior team members.

Key Responsibilities

Managing a portfolio of OMB and SME clients
Maintaining accurate bookkeeping records using cloud-based software
Preparing and submitting VAT returns (including complex VAT schemes)
Completing monthly and quarterly management accounts
Performing bank control account and balance sheet reconciliations
Preparing information for year-end accounts and liaising with accounts teams
Handling client queries and providing bookkeeping and process advice
Reviewing work prepared by junior staff and providing guidance where required

Requirements

AAT qualified (preferred) or qualified by experience
Proven experience as a Bookkeeper within an accountancy practice
Strong working knowledge of VAT (standard flat rate partial exemption)
Proficiency in Xero QuickBooks Sage or similar cloud accounting software
Confident in working independently and managing deadlines
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
Strong communication skills and a client-focused approach

Benefits

Salary circa 28000 - 35000 per annum
25 days holiday bank holiday
Part-time (3 or 4 days per week) will be considered for candidates with strong practice experience

Required Skills:

Recent and relevant bookkeeping experience including preparing and submitting VAT returns and reconciling control accounts. Experience in preparing management accounts is desirable but training will be provided. AAT qualified. Xero certified. Hands-on diligent and able to demonstrate excellent client interpersonal skills. Strong organisational skills and ability to multitask. Keen attention to detail. Proficient in Excel Word and Outlook. Team player with a strong work ethic and drive. Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
