Role Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to support a Tier 1 global banking client on an engagement focused on Wholesale Problem Loan Management.

The role requires a senior-level SME with deep experience in wholesale credit risk and problem loan management combined with a strong Internal Audit / assurance mindset to support the audit of the HBUK Wholesale Problem Loan Management function.

The engagement will focus on reviewing the effectiveness of the banks approach to monitoring problem loan assets managing customers in financial distress and conducting detailed credit file reviews. The successful candidate will work closely with the Internal Audit team providing subject matter expertise challenge and insight across wholesale problem loan management practices.

This role is suited to a Senior Manager or Director-equivalent professional with hands-on experience across wholesale credit restructuring or corporate problem loan management and prior exposure to Internal Audit risk oversight or assurance-led reviews.

Key Responsibilities

Act as a subject matter expert supporting the Internal Audit review of Wholesale Problem Loan Management

Review and assess monitoring of wholesale problem loan assets and credit deterioration

Evaluate the management of customers in financial distress including restructuring and remediation approaches

Perform detailed credit file reviews assessing quality completeness and adherence to policy

Provide challenge and insight into problem loan governance controls and risk management frameworks

Support audit planning fieldwork findings and reporting

Engage with senior stakeholders across credit risk restructuring and audit teams

Contribute to clear evidence-based audit outputs and recommendations

Required Skills & Experience

Strong Internal Audit SME with extensive experience in Wholesale Credit Risk and Problem Loans Management or Restructuring or Corporate Problem Loan Management

Senior Manager or Director-equivalent experience level

Deep experience in monitoring of problem loan assets management of customers in financial distress and credit file reviews.

Strong analytical and review skills with high attention to detail

Financial services / banking experience is essential
