The Benefits Consultant is responsible for driving new business growth while providing ongoing consultative support to an assigned block of group benefits clients. This role combines sales relationship management and strategic advising partnering with employers to design implement and manage competitive employee benefits programs. The consultant develops new client relationships expands existing accounts and ensures high levels of client satisfaction through proactive service renewal management and issue resolution.
The Benefits Consultant will be responsible for:
Business Development (50% to 70% of time depending on in-force block size)
- Identify pursue and close new business opportunities through cold calling lead generation networking and referral channels.
- Maintain accountability for revenue and profitability across assigned client accounts and project work.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for growth within the existing client base through multi-product cross-selling and the development of innovative value-driven solutions.
- Actively participate in prospecting and securing new clients through competitive bid platforms strategic networking and referrals.
- Manage relationships with clients acquired through sales team initiatives and support their continued growth.
Client Management (10% to 30% of time depending on in-force block size)
- Hold overall responsibility for managing and retaining a portfolio of clients on a profitable basis.
- Provide tailored insights and strategic advice that align with each clients unique needs.
- Lead all aspects of service delivery including financial management plan design pricing strategies trend analysis renewal negotiations and benchmarking.
- Develop and execute strategies to enhance client satisfaction strengthen relationships and support long-term retention.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key client contacts including decision-makers and plan administrators.
- Effectively manage client expectations and address issues or concerns with professionalism and urgency.
- Develop annual client service plans that demonstrate value support business goals and ensure alignment with expectations and priorities.
Partner Supplier Industry and Internal Relationships (10% of time)
- Represent People Corporation as a credible trusted ambassador in the market.
- Build and sustain strong relationships with suppliers and partners to support a competitive high-quality client experience.
- Provide mentorship and coaching to technical analytical and service team members.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues across shared services practice areas and other internal teams to support seamless client delivery.
Personal Development (10% of time)
- Engage in ongoing professional development to maintain an advanced understanding of employee benefits legal legislation environment as well as administrative and claims practices.
- Participate in industry conferences seminars and related events to promote services and stay current with emerging trends and developments within the benefits industry.
- Maintain expert-level knowledge of the full suite of People Corporation products and services.
To be successful as a Benefits Consultant with People Corporation you will need:
- At least 5 years of progressive client-facing or consulting experience in group benefits delivering strategic and innovative solutions to complex benefits challenges.
- In-depth expertise in the group benefits landscape including funding models and flexible benefits programs.
- Strong analytical and mathematical abilities paired with excellent strategic planning communication presentation and active listening skills.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong personal persuasion skills competitive confident and constructively assertive in approach.
- Highly coachable with a positive attitude and a collaborative mindset; able to work effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Insightful solutions-driven and results-focused with strong problem-solving capabilities.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality outputs on time.
- Proficient and comfortable using multi-channel technologies.
- Possession of a valid drivers license and reliable vehicle.
- Willingness to travel as needed.

- Group Benefits Associate (GBA) or CEBS designation or actively working toward completion.
- Completion of or willingness to complete the Life License Qualification Program (LLQP) within 90 days of employment.
