About the Role

Downer is seeking skilled Heavy Diesel Mechanics Technicians or Fitters to join our team in Mackay QLD. This hybrid role offers the best of both worlds: workshop-based maintenance and the variety of field service. One day youll be in the workshop the next youll be on site diagnosing faults and keeping projects moving.

Key Responsibilities

Service repair and maintain heavy plant machinery and trucks
Diagnose and resolve breakdowns in the field
Ensure all work meets Downers high safety and operational standards
Work collaboratively within a skilled team while also operating independently

About You

Trade qualification in Heavy Diesel Mechanics Plant Mechanics or Fitting (essential)
Strong hydraulic knowledge and diagnostic skills
Experience with mobile plant trucks and heavy equipment
Auto electrical experience (highly regarded)
HR and Forklift licences (desirable)
A proactive approach and commitment to safety
