The Role

Reporting to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Enterprise) and Senior Vice-President and working collaboratively with peers across the full portfolio the role will contribute to the organisation-wide expansion of Monashs research capability performance and impact. Joining a high-performing team you will continue to deliver the strategy for major research initiatives and grant success strengthening the Universitys position across national competitive schemes emerging funding sources industry partnerships and international opportunities.

The Pro ViceChancellor (Research) engages with faculties and research units to drive continuous improvement in research addition the position holds responsibility for rankings strategy research ethics and integrity defence and regulatory compliance responsible partnerships impact performance and governance of major research centres. Working across the entire Research and Enterprise leadership team the Pro ViceChancellor (Research) will strengthen a unified strategic and responsive research ecosystem for the University and its valued researchers.

The Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research) will join a diverse team of specialists across both academic and professional streams and will lead with accountability strategic clarity and strong operational execution. The role is primarily responsible for functions including defence foreign interference AI and data security and will uphold high standards shaping a cohesive highperformance culture.

The Person

Monash University is seeking an energetic and highly effective leader who can complement the existing high-performing team to drive the next phase of its global research ambition.

The role will be suited to an accomplished academic leader with a stellar record of research and an international reputation for excellence. With a penchant for deep diving into metrics modelling performance and demonstrating impact with clarity and conviction you will bring sharp analytical instincts strong judgement and a natural ability to turn data into insight.

Candidates will demonstrate the ability to shape and respond to government research policy uphold the highest standards of research integrity in line with the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research and confidently act as the designated authority for ensuring compliance with research misconduct integrity compliance and ethics requirements.

Monash is a large and dynamic organisation and competitive candidates will evidence a sophisticated understanding of the Australian and global research landscape together with the ability to effectively lead in complex and largescale universities. You will have a proven track record of academic operational leadership beyond your own research program expertly steering strategy projects resources and diverse teams within a researchintensive university.
