Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and innovative Speech-Language Pathologist to join our this role you will work cooperatively with district supervisors teachers parents and students to provide diagnostic and intervention services for students with communication disorders. Your goal will be to help students adjust and access the general education curriculum effectively.

This position is governed by theHEA Union Agreement.

Salary range for this position is $55545 to $114221depending on education and experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessment & Evaluation: Assess screen and evaluate students sharing results effectively with parents and educational staff. Participate in eligibility determination processes in accordance with state and school division requirements.
  • IEP Development: Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with Speech/Language impairments and assist with IEPs where speech/language is a service.
  • Instruction & Intervention: Demonstrate knowledge of child growth and development to provide relevant instruction based on IEPs and best practices. Provide direct and consultative therapeutic services related to expressive receptive and pragmatic language.
  • Consultation: Provide consultative services to school staff demonstrating specific techniques and facilitating relevant interventions for targeted students.
  • Collaboration: Communicate and collaborate with parents and the school community to foster student success and engage families in the therapy program. Establish cooperative professional relationships with administrative and school staff.
  • Compliance & Record Keeping: Comply with Medicaid requirements for school-based claiming. Maintain confidential records and information according to FERPA guidelines. Participate in meetings to address student goals and needs.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Masters Degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Experience: 2-4 years of relevant experience.
  • Licensure: ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competency (or eligibility) valid New Hampshire Allied Health License and valid New Hampshire teacher certification with Speech-Language Specialist endorsement.
  • Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong knowledge of communication assessments child development and instructional strategies for various disabilities.
  • Excellent organizational time management and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting and interact positively with parents students and staff.
  • Proficiency in computer operation and relevant software.
  • Ability to remain calm in difficult situations and multitask effectively.

General Purpose:

To provide innovative Working in cooperation with appropriate district supervisors teachers parents and students the speech-language pathologist shall be responsible for providing diagnostic and intervention services for students with communication disorders helping students to adjust and access the general education curriculum.

Principal; Special Education Coordinator

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Except as specifically noted the following functions are considered essential to this position:

  • Assess screen and evaluate students and effectively share results with parents and educational staff and participate in the eligibility determination process in accordance with state and school division requirements and best practice
  • Develop and implement individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with Speech/Language impairment and assist with IEPs for students with speech/language as a service on an annual basis or according to requirements
  • Comply with all Medicaid requirements for school-based claiming of all students served and timely filing of claims that meet Medicaid standards
  • Demonstrate knowledge of child growth and development and individual student needs by providing relevant instruction according to the IEP and educational best practices
  • Provide consultative services for school staff by sharing and demonstrating specific techniques and working with school teams to facilitate relevant and consistent interventions for targeted students
  • Maintain records and information concerning individual students in the prescribed confidential manner and using the records and information only for the purposes for which they are maintained according to FERPA guidelines
  • Provide direct and consultative therapeutic services related to expressive receptive and pragmatic language
  • Communicate and collaborate with parents and the school community for the purpose of fostering individual student success and growth while engaging the families in the therapy program
  • Establish and maintain cooperative professional relationships with administrative and school staff
  • Participate in various meetings for the purpose of addressing student goals and needs and to meet laws and policies
  • Maintain and submit information/records including student progress for all students
  • Share with other staff members the responsibility for school activities and student supervision
  • Maintain consistent attendance and conform to regular work hours specified under contract
  • Perform other duties and accepts responsibilities as assigned
  • Must comply with all SAU 70 District policy and building / department rules procedures practices and objectives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • Masters Degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Two to Four (2-4) years of relevant experience

  • Knowledge of and skills in using effective instructional strategies and practices.
  • Knowledge of and skills in administering scoring and interpreting communication assessments.
  • Knowledge and understanding of child development and communication development.
  • Knowledge of and skills in best practice instruction specific to various disabilities.
  • Skills in managing and promoting positive student behavior.
  • Skills in data analysis to assess monitor and inform instruction for student growth.
  • Skills and abilities in organization time management and record keeping.
  • Ability to operate a computer and the skills to learn and utilize software and other technology in instruction.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with other professionals in a team setting.
  • Ability to interact positively and effectively with parents students staff and administrators.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Ability to remain calm in difficult situations.
  • Ability to successfully multitask within role.
  • Ability to accurately and expeditiously type correspondence reports and memoranda according to standard business practices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others both orally and in writing.

LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
