    PRIMARY PURPOSE:

    Design build and maintain district wide network infrastructure for data voice e-mail and internet access. Implement and maintain district wide applications servers and security to support the goals objectives and initiatives of the district.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education/Certification:
    TEA certification requirements
    Bachelors Degree in computer science computer information systems or related field
    (CCNA) or equivalent level of knowledge required
    (MCSA) or equivalent level of knowledge required
    (MCSE) preferred
    (CCNP) preferred
    Special Knowledge/Skills:
    Strong knowledge of network design and fundamentals.
    Experience with IP subnettings VLAN management DHCP/DNS configuration and routing protocols required. Experience with Cisco switches routers wireless infrastructure and firewalls.
    Experience with Cisco Call Manager or equivalent VOIP solution.
    Ability to research and learn new hardware and software innovations with minimum of training.
    Experience in providing network support for Windows Server OS Active Directory Exchange/0365 E-Mail and VMware virtualization.
    Experience:
    3 years of experience in a computer-networking environment required
    3 years experience implementing maintaining and configuring Cisco networking equipment required.
    Experience providing Data Center networking support a plus.

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

    • Designs configures implements and maintains district wide area and local area networks.
    • Provides network solutions as appropriate to effectively implement the districts goals.
    • Maintains current knowledge on voice data and networking solutions.
    • Analyzes and troubleshoot networks recommends and implements solutions.
    • Coordinates preventative maintenance network equipment and services.
    • Observes professional and ethical work standards and handles confidential and security sensitive information.
    • Installs configures designs implements and maintains DHCP DNS and Firewall servers for effective use of WAN.
    • Researches and maintains current knowledge of emerging technologies and networking solutions.
    • Designs configures implements and maintains district wide VoIP and Messaging systems
    • Maintains and configures districts content filter for CIPA compliance
    • Troubleshoots and maintains Analog phone lines for Faxes or Emergency situations
    • Manages addition/removal/repair of data cable as liaison for District with contracted cable company
    • Acts as primary/secondary organizational interface with vendor and provides internal analysis and support
    • Analyzes products and recommends use of new products and services to immediate supervisor
    • Arranges and administers security measures to restrict unauthorized use of data systems and databases
    • Manages disaster recovery and backup functions for information systems
    • Organizes off-site storage necessary for recovery processes and oversees development of recovery procedures

    Project Management

    • Manages and implements technical projects and meets deadlines for district needs
    • Organizes district resources and uses them efficiently
    • Maintains professional relationship with vendors and manages scheduling of work to be done by vendors
    • Reports status of projects regularly with immediate supervisor

    E-Rate

    • Maintains current knowledge of E-Rate rules and regulations
    • Analyzes eligible and ineligible products and suggests usage of new products and services to immediate supervisor
    • Maintains communication with vendor on status of projects
    • Works closely with vendor to ensure items are received and implemented as requested
    • Keeps track of inventory related to E-Rate and ensures its placement as stated in E-Rate documentation
    • Ensures minimum downtime of resources during project implementations
    • Performs all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or others
    • Performs other related duties as assigned
