Duties & Responsibilities

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our engineering team specialising in the design and development of armoured and protected vehicles. The role involves working on mission-critical defence projects from concept through to production and in-service support.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop mechanical systems and structures for armoured vehicles
Create detailed 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings
Design and integrate armour solutions chassis suspension and vehicle subsystems
Perform mechanical calculations (strength fatigue vibration weight optimisation)
Support prototyping testing and validation activities
Liaise with manufacturing supply chain and quality teams
Ensure designs comply with defence standards safety and customer requirements
Participate in design reviews and configuration control

Requirements

Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Proven mechanical design experience in defence automotive or heavy engineering
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks CATIA Creo Inventor)
Strong understanding of structural design and manufacturing processes
Ability to work with confidential and controlled information
