WHAT IS THE JOB

The Accounts Payable Assistant will report to the Director of Accounting & Finance and provide day-to-day support to the Accounts Payable Specialist while assisting with the overall accounts payable and administrative functions of the accounting department. This position will work onsite in the Companys corporate office located in Atlanta GA.

WHAT ARE THE RESPONSIBILITIES

Monitoring accounting and AP inboxes and routing invoices and inquiries appropriately.
Processing vendor invoices including data entry and matching to supporting documentation.
Responding to basic vendor inquiries and researching invoice and payment issues.
Assisting with vendor statement reviews and discrepancy research.
Assisting with reconciliations between the accounting system and .
Maintaining accurate records files and documentation for accounts payable transactions.
Verifying that transactions comply with company financial policies and procedures.
Providing administrative and project support to the accounting team as needed.
Maintaining a positive work atmosphere that strengthens the team.
Accept additional responsibilities as necessary which may include but not be limited to accounting department operations or project participation.

WHAT ARE THE ESSENTIAL SKILLS

The ideal candidate should have a bachelors degree in accounting or finance and an understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of products is expected with working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks (or other ERP) experience is preferred.
Strong attention to detail is a must.
Ability to follow established procedures and meet deadlines.
Must have ability to work both independently and part of a team.
Most importantly the ideal candidate will bring a positive and team-oriented attitude to the workplace and must desire to grow professionally.
