The Clinical Transporter II
Plans directs and coordinates daily workflow in addition priorities and coordinates in-conjunction with the manager of radiology and multiple other departments to manage monitored patient flow.
Maintains awareness of overall monitoring department functions and status of all patients en route during procedure and in the Monitoring Transition area.
Determines patient prioritization in flow. Identifies and coordinates various staff needed to support patient in transport.
Adapts to fluctuation in work demands by adjusting staff scheduling based on projected patient flow. Makes recommendations to management based on identified trends.
Inputs maintains and updates monitoring transport database.
Prepares routine and non-routine special reports including gathering and summarizing data.
Coordinates orientation process for new staff. Completes appropriate documentation and feedback in conjunction with leadership to orientee.
Reviews patients charts for monitoring/procedure order verification. Request changes as needed in conjunction with RN. Documents database and patient information accurately and in a timely manner.
Reports changes in EKG rhythms and patient status to licensed staff and or physician.
Receives and screens in coming requests via phone and other wireless technology. Delegates triage call to appropriate skill set.
Collaborates with the RN physician and other clinicians to meet the needs of the patient who requires transportation between area of care within the hospital.
Continuously observes EKG monitors and patient status.
Maintain a safe comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients and families in accordance with hospital standards.
Contributes to Carilion Clinics performance improvement activities.
Actively participates in obtaining desired service line/ departmental operational excellence targets.
Makes decisions based on confidential information.
May assign and reviews work of others.
Provides guidance direction and maintenance of workflow.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Advanced-monitoring education successfully completed as directed by the department.
Experience: One year of direct patient care and monitoring experience required.
Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP required.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Effective interpersonal communication and teamwork skills required. Basic Computer skills & knowledge of Microsoft office. Must demonstrate thorough and complete documentation skills. Must be knowledgeable of patients rights and respects the rights of the patient to include accepting or refusing medical care. Ability to work independently and adapt to fluctuation in work demands. Work involves application of basic knowledge and advanced skills or patient care. Duties may be complex and non-routine. Resolves most issues and problems but refers the most complex issues and problems to supervisor. Under general supervision. Impact of the work is limited to department or service line.
