Interns must be located in the same location throughout the duration of their internship and are prohibited from returning laptop/equipment to a different office location or shipping their equipment back.
Position Summary:
The US Institutional Sales team is responsible for driving new business and deepening relationships with institutional investors across the country including public and corporate pension plans endowments foundations OCIOs and consultants. We partner closely with our investment affiliates across public and private markets to position Franklin Templetons strategies respond to RFPs and due diligence requests and ensure a coordinated high-quality experience for our clients and prospects.
This internship is a great fit for a student who wants a front-row seat to how large institutional investors make asset allocation and manager selection decisions. Youll gain exposure to a broad range of asset classes (fixed income equities and alternatives) learn how institutional sales pipelines are built and managed and see how a global asset manager competes for mandates in a very crowded marketplace.
You will support live initiativesclient meetings RFPs pipeline analysis and market/peer researchso your work will directly feed into conversations with some of the most sophisticated investors in the industry. The role sits at the intersection of markets products and client engagement and offers an excellent foundation for future opportunities in asset management distribution or consulting.

Cross-functional: interns will interact with multiple groups across the firm (investment affiliates RFP marketing data/analytics) and see how each contributes to winning and retaining business.
An intern in this department can expect to learn:
How institutional investors (pension plans OCIOs consultants etc.) evaluate asset managers and make mandate decisions.
How to analyze and summarize investment strategies (e.g. fixed income EMD investment-grade credit alternatives) and position them relative to peers and benchmarks.
How sales pipelines are managed and reported including use of CRM tools market/peer data and internal analytics to prioritize opportunities and track progress.
How cross-functional teams coordinate to prepare for client meetings RFPs finals presentations and consultant interactions.
Key Responsibilities Can Include:
Supporting the sales team with prospect and client research including reviewing public plan documents consultant reports and peer/competitor information to prepare for meetings.
Assisting with pipeline analytics and reporting (e.g. updating CRM entries preparing summary reports or dashboards on opportunities activity and trends).
Helping prepare and refine client-facing materials such as meeting decks follow-up notes case studies and overview materials for key strategies and affiliates.
Partnering with product RFP and marketing teams on ad-hoc projects such as compiling data for RFP responses organizing materials for finals presentations or tracking consultant ratings/approvals.
Conducting light market/industry research on topics relevant to institutional clients (e.g. manager searches asset allocation trends high-level regulatory or policy developments).
Ideal Qualifications:
Current undergraduate student (rising junior or senior) with strong academic performance and an interest in investments capital markets or institutional asset management.
Strong analytical and organizational skills with comfort working in Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with data/CRM tools is a plus but not required.
Clear written and verbal communication skills with the ability to synthesize information and present it in a concise professional format.
Proactive curious and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders and changing priorities.
Demonstrated interest in finance economics or related fields (coursework clubs prior internships or self-directed learning).

This is a full-time internship where students will work approximately 35 (dependent on state/location) hours per week and earn competitive hourly pay of $30 (dependent on location and function) USD per hour.
