Description of Work

The NC State Highway Patrol is seeking an enthusiastic team member to join our Personnel Unit as L.E.O. Compensation Consultant. The L.E.O. Compensation Consultant serves as the compensation consultant responsible for overseeing and managing all compensation-related activities for the organization.

Salary Range: $48222-$75000 Salary Grade: NC13

Management Prefers:

  • Basic knowledge in the interpretation and application of federal laws and State HR laws policies and practices governing HR.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; to express ideas clearly and concisely; to exercise good judgment in analyzing situations and making recommendations and/or decisions within delegated level of authority.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Implementing and updating position data changes resolving complex pay and funding issues conducting detailed audits and processing retirement payouts.

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support and act as a subject matter expert for compensation policies and procedures.

  • Utilize advanced skills in keying personnel actions compliance auditing compensation analysis and process improvement to ensure legal compliance data accuracy and operational efficiency.

  • Collaborate with HR staff department leaders and external partners to deliver solutions that align with organizational goals and support employee satisfaction

Position/Physical Requirements:

Typical work schedule: Monday-Friday; 8:00am-5:00pm

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelors degree typically in Human Resources

OR

related field from an appropriately accredited institution;

OR

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and 3 years of progressive experience in Human Resources;

OR

equivalent combination or education and experience.

Veterans and National Guard Preference

Applicants seeking Veterans Preference must attach a DD Form 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty along with the state application.

Applicants seeking National Guard Preference must attach an NGB 23A (RPAS) along with the state application if they are a current member of the NC National Guard in good standing.

Applicants who are former member of either the NC Army National Guard or the NC Air National Guard with honorable discharge and six years of creditable service must attach a copy of the DD 256 or NGB 22 along with the state application.
