Description:
The North Carolina Department of Information Technology Transportation (NCDIT-T) Project Management Office (PMO) is seeking two motivated and detail-oriented Project Management Interns to join our team for FY2026. This hybrid internship offers hands-on experience supporting enterprise-level initiatives focused on streamlining IT expenditure reporting and strengthening application portfolio management using the NCDIT Enterprise Portfolio Management platform (OrbusInfinity). Interns will work closely with the PMO Director Portfolio Managers and cross-functional IT and business partners on real-world projects that impact DOT enterprise applications statewide.
Responsibilities:
Support project managers and portfolio managers in a project coordinator role assisting with project planning scheduling task tracking and documentation.
Participate in a coordinated cross-department effort to establish repeatable processes for application cost reporting portfolio analysis and application rationalization.
Assist with meeting facilitation status tracking and preparation of project artifacts reports and presentations for stakeholders.
Monitor project performance indicators and help track progress against schedules resources and deliverables.
Collaborate daily with PMO staff IT teams and business partners to ensure timely execution of assigned tasks.
Utilize tools such as Microsoft Teams SharePoint Microsoft Project Power BI and OrbusInfinity (training provided as needed).
Preferred Skills and Tools:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including MS Teams and SharePoint.
Familiarity with Microsoft Project Power BI or other project management tools is preferred but not required.
Strong organizational communication and time-management skills.
Interest in project management business analysis or IT portfolio management.
Technical aptitude or coursework is beneficial but not mandatory.

Internship Structure:
Hybrid position.
Interns will report directly to the PMO Director and be assigned to multiple projects under the guidance of two Portfolio Managers.
Interns will interact regularly with the full PMO team IT staff and business partners across the organization.

Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be a currently enrolled full-time student in a bachelors masters or professional level program at an accredited or recently graduated from a North Carolina Historically Black College/University (HBCU) or Minority Serving Institution (MSI) by May 2026.
- 24 credit hours completed.
- Minimum overall GPA of 2.5 (on 4.0 scale)
- Has legal right to work in the U.S. and do not need sponsorship
