Job Description

Chronicle Heritage is hiring a Senior Archaeologist to serve as a Principal Investigator for the Northeast region including New England and New York. The position will report to our Buffalo NY Office but will be a remote position. The successful applicant will work alongside our existing Office Principal Project Manager and Senior staff who are based throughout the Mid-Atlantic and is a full-time salaried position with compensation commensurate with experience and qualifications.

This position will be responsible for the following duties:

Lead technical studies and ensure clients receive high-quality on-time deliverables
Provide technical oversight and interdisciplinary team oversight
Provide quality control for all deliverables and ensure compliance with applicable regulations
Train and mentor staff and actively engage in professional development
Interface with clients and external stakeholders
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulations affecting CRM and general industry trends
Oversee field investigations of proposed project sites to assess or evaluate resources or the potential for resources
Direct collection analysis and interpretation of data; formulate recommendations and solutions to highly complex problems or those involving risk

Required Qualifications:

SOI-Qualified in one or more New England states (advanced degree in archaeology anthropology or a closely related field)
Ability to prioritize multiple projects tasks and deadlines simultaneously
Experience leading projects in New England including 4 years of experience managing survey testing and data recovery projects
Comprehensive understanding of legal framework of CRM with excellent understanding of NRHP criteria and application to the region
Demonstratable report writing experience including technical reports treatment plans and comprehensive data recovery reports
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications including experience preparing deliverables on schedule using report templates and style guides
Valid drivers license

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with GPR and other remote sensing techniques and Geographic Information Systems
Experience managing a lab including artifact analysis developing and implementing laboratory policies and procedures and communicating results and findings to relevant parties
Experience with SHPO contracts and project execution.
