Job Description
Chronicle Heritage is hiring a Senior Archaeologist to serve as a Principal Investigator for the Northeast region including New England and New York. The position will report to our Buffalo NY Office but will be a remote position. The successful applicant will work alongside our existing Office Principal Project Manager and Senior staff who are based throughout the Mid-Atlantic and is a full-time salaried position with compensation commensurate with experience and qualifications.
This position will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Lead technical studies and ensure clients receive high-quality on-time deliverables
  • Provide technical oversight and interdisciplinary team oversight
  • Provide quality control for all deliverables and ensure compliance with applicable regulations
  • Train and mentor staff and actively engage in professional development
  • Interface with clients and external stakeholders
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulations affecting CRM and general industry trends
  • Oversee field investigations of proposed project sites to assess or evaluate resources or the potential for resources
  • Direct collection analysis and interpretation of data; formulate recommendations and solutions to highly complex problems or those involving risk

Required Qualifications:
  • SOI-Qualified in one or more New England states (advanced degree in archaeology anthropology or a closely related field)
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects tasks and deadlines simultaneously
  • Experience leading projects in New England including 4 years of experience managing survey testing and data recovery projects
  • Comprehensive understanding of legal framework of CRM with excellent understanding of NRHP criteria and application to the region
  • Demonstratable report writing experience including technical reports treatment plans and comprehensive data recovery reports
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications including experience preparing deliverables on schedule using report templates and style guides
  • Valid drivers license
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with GPR and other remote sensing techniques and Geographic Information Systems
  • Experience managing a lab including artifact analysis developing and implementing laboratory policies and procedures and communicating results and findings to relevant parties
  • Experience with SHPO contracts and project execution.
