Description of Work

The primary purpose of this position is to provide evaluation and social-emotional therapy services to children and families referred to the NC Infant Toddler Program. The LCSW assists in determining eligibility for the NCITP and serves as a member of the IFSP team contributing to the development of the child and familys service plan. Additional duties include consultation with staff and the possible provision of treatment services. Services must be provided in compliance with Federal and State regulations for the Infant Toddler Program.


This position as a Clinical Social Worker serves children birth to three is located within the catchment area of the Childrens Developmental Services Agency (CDSA) of the Cape Fear. This position will be located in the Wilmington office and serve children in and the surrounding areas (New Hanover Pender Brunswick Duplin & Columbus Co.).

Salary Grade Range: $50633.00 - $88607.00

Recruitment Range: $50633.00 $59006.00

  • Thorough knowledge of social work principles techniques and practices and their application to complex casework.

  • Considerable knowledge of developmental disabilities and needs of young children and their families with a wide range of behavior and psychosocial concerns.

  • Skill in establishing rapport with clients and utilizing clinical interview and standardized testing for assessing psychosocial behavioral and child/family needs and concerns.

  • Skill in developing specific child and family outcomes with families and utilizing a range of social work intervention techniques to reach these outcomes.

About the North Carolina Early Intervention (NCEI) Branch:

The North Carolina Early Intervention Branch (NCEI) is a part of the N.C. Division of Public Health. It is the lead agency for the N.C. Infant-Toddler Program (ITP). The Infant-Toddler Program provides support and services for families and their children birth to three who have special needs. Research shows that this time period is critical. It offers a window of opportunity to make a positive difference in how a child develops and learns. Childrens Developmental Services Agencies (CDSAs) across North Carolina work with local service providers to help families help their children succeed.

    Minimum Education and Experience

    Masters degree from an appropriately accredited school of social work. Licensure is required from NC SW Certification and Licensure Board. Necessary Special Qualification Requirements - One must fulfill all requirements for Licensure in North Carolina as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker as required by the North Carolina Social Work Certification and Licensure Board.
