Join our Intellectual Property (IP) team as a Knowledge Lawyer providing legal and technical support to all fee earners in our market-leading IP team. This is an excellent opportunity for an IP lawyer or current Professional Support Lawyer (PSL) / Knowledge Lawyer to work within a team which places teamwork and excellence at the centre of everything it does.

Main Purpose of the Role

TheKnowledge Lawyer roleispivotal to the continued success of the team and willincludedelivering training and knowhowto the team and clientswritingarticlesand presentationsdeveloping podcastshorizon scanning to bringopinions and ideas to the team and helping with business will work closely with the teams partnersondeliveringthe teamsthought will also bean important sounding board forideasfrom the teamandassistingfee earnersinthe delivery of high-quality advice to clients.

Professional Support Lawyer (PSL) / Knowledge Lawyer experience would be preferred but is by no means essentialand we are open to speaking to solicitorsor barristerswho are looking foranalternative career require someone in Birmingham that is minimum 6 PQE.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Keeping abreast of all case law and legal developments in the UK and EUpertaining toIP.
  • To undertake research and answerspecific legalqueriesacross all areas of IP.
  • To develop and leadweeklytraining sessions to theteamto include deciding upon relevant training topics preparing training material and giving training whereappropriate.
  • To ensure fee earners are kept up to date on new legislation/cases/articles of interest whether on an individual team or group wide basis.
  • To prepareand delivertrainingtoclient seminarsin conjunction withIPfee earners andpartners.
  • Towritearticles and alertsfor external publication to includeidentifyingsuitable topicswritingarticlesand liaising withIP Partners.
  • To develop material for podcasts and work with the team toprepare and deliver.
  • To work with theIPpartners in relation tohorizon scanning to bringopinions and ideas to the team and helping with business developmentinitiatives.
  • Towork closely with theIPpartnersonbusiness development initiatives andthe teams thought leadership programme.
  • Toassistwith the groups digital offerings to include writing articles for the firms website producing podcasts tweeting etc.
  • Tocurateand update theteams precedent bankandknow-howdatabase.
  • To undertake any other reasonable duties delegated by anyIPPartner seniorbusiness support services manager or seniorProfessional Support Lawyer/ Knowledge Lawyer.

To attendingrelevant market sector training and other external events asappropriate and from time to timepossibly alsoCourt Users meetings and other relevant meetings

About You

Were looking for someone who has:

  • Astrong generalIP background.
  • A thorough knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules and other procedural guidelines.
  • A thorough knowledge of and ability to navigate and use research tools both electronic and hard copy.
  • Excellent drafting skills.
  • Has first rate communication skills both written and oral.
  • Is highly self-motivated enthusiastic and works on their own initiative.
  • Is able towork under pressure and time constraints.
  • Is able towork with the minimum of supervision.
  • Is positive and flexible.
  • Is forward thinking.
  • Enjoys training and can engage with people at all levels.
  • Is able towork as a member of both a small teamand a wider group.
