The Role

As a Year 5 Class Teacher you will play a vital role in preparing pupils for the challenges of upper Key Stage 2 and their transition to Year 6. You will be responsible for delivering a broad balanced and engaging curriculum that inspires pupils and builds strong foundations in academic learning independence and resilience.

You will plan and deliver high-quality lessons that meet the needs of all learners using assessment effectively to inform teaching and ensure progress for every child. You will create a positive inclusive classroom environment where pupils feel safe valued and motivated to do their best.

The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues across Key Stage 2 contribute to curriculum development and actively participate in the wider life of the school.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan prepare and deliver engaging well-structured lessons in line with the National Curriculum

  • Create a stimulating and supportive learning environment that promotes curiosity and high expectations

  • Use formative and summative assessment to track pupil progress and inform future planning

  • Differentiate teaching to meet the needs of all learners including those with SEND and higher-attaining pupils

  • Promote positive behaviour and uphold the schools values consistently

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues teaching assistants and support staff

  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers building strong partnerships

  • Contribute to staff meetings training sessions and school events

  • Safeguard the wellbeing of pupils in line with school policies and procedures


About You

We are looking for a teacher who is passionate about teaching and learning with a genuine commitment to helping every child succeed. You will be reflective adaptable and eager to develop your practice within a supportive team.

You will ideally:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Have experience teaching in Key Stage 2 (Year 5 experience desirable but not essential)

  • Demonstrate strong subject knowledge and a clear understanding of effective pedagogy

  • Be enthusiastic creative and committed to delivering engaging lessons

  • Have high expectations for pupil achievement and behaviour

  • Be an excellent communicator and team player

  • Show a commitment to inclusion equality and safeguarding

  • Be willing to contribute to the wider life of the school
