General Summary

The Senior Accountant serves as a key member of the Finance team at Urology Centers of Alabama (UCA) with primary responsibility for the accurate recording review and reconciliation of general ledger role supports the monthly close process through preparation and review of journal entriesproper revenueand expense classificationpayroll and benefit reconciliations balance sheet account reconciliations and thetimelypreparation of monthly financial statementsin accordance withGAAP and healthcare industry accounting standards. The Senior Accountant collaborates closely with payroll operations and revenue cycle teams to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial data and provides support to management through routine financial reportingandbudget to actualvariance Senior Accountant reports directly to the CFO.

Essential Functions

  1. In collaboration with theCFOSenior Accountantwill develop and plan company financialobjectives including short- and long-range programs in budgeting profit analysis ROI project analysis and accounting systems.

  1. Implement and supervise financial practice management accounting and payroll processes across the organization.

  1. Prepare and review monthly financial statements and oversee thecompanymonthend close process.

  1. Must activelymaintainrelated licenses without lapses. Any lapse or encumbrance against license mustimmediatelybe reported to UCA Leadership.

  1. Working with theCFOSeniorAccountantwillevaluate accounting system and develop a long-term accounting strategy.

  1. Oversee and direct preparationof thecompaniesfinancial statementsfor monthly Board of Directormeetings.

  1. Work withexternalCPA firm in preparing and reviewingquarterlyphysiciancompensationcalculations.

  1. Direct financial accounting functions to ensuretimelyandaccuratereporting of corporate financial information for informed decision making.

  1. Develop andmaintainsystems of internal controls to safeguard assets.

  1. Plan assign and review work of staff to ensure that groupobjectivesare met. Hire train develop and manage staff to ensure thata qualifiedstaff exists to meet departmentobjectives.

  1. Develop and implement financial policies and procedures and ensure compliance.

  1. Oversee Disbursements (payroll and accounts payable) processing.

  1. Manage the development of financialpro-formasand the due diligence for new services development capital equipment purchase and expansion plans.

  1. Oversee annual audits on time and with minimal or no adjustments.

  1. Maintain excellent relationships with outside lending institutions pay sources and the financial community.

  1. Price and analyze loans andpurchasingoptions for capital expenditures.

  1. Lead orfacilitatestrategies and steps for cost containment within the organization.

  1. Conduct regular insurance contract performance evaluations analysis negotiate and/orrenegotiateall insurance contracts.

  1. Develop strategies to increase cash flow including improvements in revenue cycle management all with a target of increasingdayscash on hand.

  1. Ensures development and mentoring of staff within the department.

  1. Perform other related duties incidental to the work describedhereinas may be assigneddelegatedor necessary.

  1. Participate in professional associations and community service activities.

Supervisory Requirements

This position will directly superviseAccounts Payable/Payroll Clerk.

Physical Demands

Involves sitting approximately 90 percent of the day walking orstandingtheremainder. Work will require hand dexterity for telephone and office machine operation. May require walking standing or sitting for extended periods of time. May require bending or twisting at the waist. May require squatting or kneeling as well as reaching above shoulder height. May require pushing or pulling. Typicallyweightof objects that will be lifted pushed pulled or while bending or twisting are 25lbs or less.

Work is performed in an office environmentInvolvesfrequent and advanced personal communication and telephone contact with employees and vendors. Work may be stressful at times. Interaction with others is constant and interruptive.

  1. Must display expert Excel skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

  1. Must display expert skills in strategic planning budgeting and forecasting processes to lead teams in building complex models.

  1. Must show the ability to analyze and synthesizelarge amountsof data toidentifyand present meaningful observations and recommendations.

  1. Must demonstrate excellent organizational and written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate within a cross-functional team environment.

  1. Must show the ability to take initiative exercising sound judgment in problem-solving and decision making.

  1. Must displayskillin developing people and in building teams.

  1. Must show a demonstrated ability to lead complex organizations.

  1. Mustcontainthe knowledgeof management and organizational leadership principles and practices.

  1. Must be self-directed with the ability to effectively manage competing priorities and thrive under pressure.

  1. Must be proficient with Microsoft Word and other applications in the Microsoft Office suite.

  1. Bachelors degreerequired;CPArequiredAccounting or Finance preferred;Mastersdegree preferred.

  1. Must have a minimum of5years of experience in accounting and/or planning and forecasting required.

  1. Must be a proven financial leader with a minimum of fiveyearsfinancial managementin healthcare.

  1. Healthcareexperience is preferred.

  1. Must have excellent leadership skills anddemonstratedability to lead broad teams in a fast-changing environment.

  1. Must have extensive knowledge of the accounting and regulatory environments that affect Accounting Tax and Finance

  1. Mustdemonstratethe ability to stay up to date with continuing educationrequiredfor position.

Education Licensure Certification

  1. Bachelors degree in accounting or finance.

  1. CPArequired

  1. MBAorGraduate Degree preferred.
