Senior Data Designer

Position Description:

This role is hybrid and requires you to be at our Client office at a minimum 3 days per week - subject to change at any time.

We are seeking a collaborative and resourceful Senior Data Designer to support a fast-paced Enterprise Data Services function. You will work closely with data business data science and technical teams to help build enterprise-level data models standards and policies.

You will act as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical data teams applying deep expertise across requirements gathering documentation data analysis and data design. You will also contribute to ongoing data transformation initiatives enabling direct-to-consumer capabilities data science use cases and digital expansion.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

1. Work with ETL data engineering and business intelligence teams to understand database design requirements and model data based on business needs.

2. Partner with ML engineering teams to understand ML model requirements and design data models for feature stores.

3. Develop conceptual logical and physical data models including:

4. RDBMS

5. Operational Data Stores (ODS)

6. Data marts

7. JSON/XML schemas

8. Data lake schemas (SQL/NoSQL platforms)

9. Extend existing data architecture and optimize data query performance using best practices.

with development teams to design and build database models.

11. Document source-to-target mappings in collaboration with data engineering teams.

12. Apply relational dimensional and data vault modeling techniques.

14. Support data migration initiatives and help define migration rules.

15. Work with data scientists to understand feature engineering needs and design supporting logical and physical data models.

16. Identify data security requirements and collaborate with security/infrastructure teams to implement solutions.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

1. 8 years of experience leading data modeling and design initiatives with large-scale enterprise data models

2. Strong expertise in dimensional data modeling

3. Strong cloud data engineering background

4. Advanced SQL skills and hands-on experience

5. Bachelors degree in Management Information Systems Computer Science Computer Information Systems or a related IT field

Technical Skills

1. Strong experience with data technologies and tools including:

Snowflake Hadoop PostgreSQL

Informatica dbt Cloud Airflow

AWS Glue or similar cloud-based data services

2. Proficiency in industry-standard data modeling methodologies

3. Proven experience building relational databases in a corporate environment

4. Experience developing data models for Business Intelligence solutions

5. Hands-on experience with ETL tools and data integration frameworks

6. Data & Governance Expertise

7. Strong analytical data profiling and problem-solving abilities

8. Knowledge of data governance data quality metadata management and documentation standards

9. Familiarity with data modeling tools such as:

10. SAP PowerDesigner

11. Microsoft Visio

12. ERWIN Data Modeler

13. Soft Skills & Domain Knowledge

14. Ability to understand complex business processes and translate them into technical solutions



CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level geographic market experience and training and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $95000$145000. This role is an existing vacancy.
