We are seeking a Sports Data Scientist to join our Research and Development team. You bring strong analytical and technical skills passion for sports and a desire to use data to improve our tools and products.
This role is centered on a deep curiosity about sports data as it pertains to simulation models and sports predictions. You will work as part of a growing R&D team at the forefront of the business’ ambitions to provide faster smarter and more elegant products to our clients and internal users alike. Your data shaping and feature engineering will fuel our ‘Train Station’ internal Neural Networks and your sports-savvy will help us to verify our work and grow as a department and company.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze large sports and odds datasets to extract insights and help us improve our pipelines and models.
- Design build and maintain data shaping and feature engineering workflows.
- Ensure data quality consistency and reliability across competitions seasons and data sources.
- Utilize our in-house neural network protocol and verify and augment its results.
- Collaborate with developers traders and stakeholders to improve our models offerings and sports-data IQ.
Requirements:
- Background and professional experience in data science.
- Familiarity with Python for data analysis and modeling.
- Availability to work onsite in San José Costa Rica at least 2 days per week or 4 days a week if living outside of the country some of the year.
- Conversational English.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience or expertise with Matlab Excel SQL C# or other programming languages.
- Experience or expertise in gaming gambling games of chance (e.g. poker backgammon Magic: The Gathering) or classic strategy games (e.g. chess Go).
