Position Status: May-November term 18 hours per week (450 hours in total)

KEXPs Internship Program seeks to provide interns from historically under-invited and under-represented communities with hands-on work experience. KEXP internships are educational experiences and we seek applicants who are at the beginning of their career journey or embarking on a career change.

All internships are a limited term 18 hours per week (450 hours in total) and include:

$22 per hour compensation
opportunities for mentoring
cohort activities

Internship Position Summary:

This intern works with the Latin Content & Multimedia Producer to create high-quality content in both English and Spanish. The position will be engaged in the content development process from pre-to-post-production including conducting research coordinating interviews editing audio and drafting social media copy. The intern will gain experience in bilingual music programming and storytelling that connects communities around the world. This internship does not involve hosting the show El Sonido or Live on KEXP sessions.

Essential duties include but are not limited to:

Write transcribe and edit videos and audio in both English and Spanish including interviews social media content and scripts
Communicate with artists partners and other stakeholders in both English and Spanish
Coordinate interviews with artists and guests
Identify gather and edit audio content for bilingual podcasts
Distill key information into clear concise and compelling one sheets

Skills Learned:

Experience in music programming for Alternative Latin Music
Experience editing in Adobe Audition Cap Cut and Canva
Experience in the development and execution of bilingual content (audio video)
Hands-on music industry experience
In-depth research interview preparation and writing skills
Podcast production
Transcription
Experience collaborating with other KEXP departments
Project management skills and workflow strategies
Professional email and verbal communication in English and Spanish

Working Conditions: Interns are required to come into the office at least one day a week. Must be flexible with both working remotely or at the office depending on need and company policy based on public health recommendations at the time. Remote working will require a consistently quiet and productive space and office work operates in a typical business environment.

Requirements

General Qualifications:

Passion for and commitment to KEXPs mission
Familiarity with Latin music and artists featured on KEXPs El Sonido radio show and podcast
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish
Basic experience with audio and video editing software (e.g. Adobe Audition Cap Cut)
Ability to work independently and take initiative on projects
Commitment to maintain a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality
Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to juggle multiple projects at once

Physical Requirements: Long periods of being in a stationary position; operating a computer and other office equipment; frequently communicating by phone email and video conferencing; frequently remaining in a stationary position during meetings discerning meeting content expressing oneself and exchanging accurate information.
